Preventive Maintenance
Planned service on a schedule is always better than a blown up control at just the wrong time.We can extend your machine's life and can help prevent costly equipment failure by reconditioning your controls:
---Check, clean, repair all bad connectors, solder joints, relays, and contactors;
---Change fans, batteries, and electrolytic capacitors;
---Thorough cleaning of circuit boards and modules to eliminate conductive dust, grease, and corrosion buildup, and ensure proper cooling.We mostly repair older (10-35 years) machines. The number one problem we see is failure of filter capacitors in power switching circuitry. The electrolytic paste inside sometimes dries out, or sometimes leaks out, causing arcing between the leads which burns sections of circuit board. Either case can lead to your servo/spindle control shorting its transistor modules.Capacitors are fairly cheap. Transistor and IGBT modules are expensive, and obsolete models are increasingly hard to find.
